Large and substantial as it is, the Bentley Continental GT is also beautifully turned-out. It’s also every bit as sumptuous on the inside as you’d expect a Bentley cabin to be. Only the highest grade of materials make it to the Continental GT and Bentley will be happy to accept any special requests for your choice of wood, leather or metal – for a price, of course. The slick ‘rotating clock’ is an option we’d tick on. You sit relatively high in a Bentley Continental GT and front seat comfort is exceptional. Access to the rear seats isn’t the best, nor is space, though it’s habitable for short drives.
With 635hp and a locomotive-like 900Nm, the Bentley Continental GT’s 6.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine feels absolutely effortless. What’s also amazing is how tidy the GT’s handling is for a car that’s on the wrong side of 2.2 tonnes. There’s a full suite of electronics that do their bit to hide the bulk and it helps that the Continental GT shares its basic platform with the Porsche Panamera. Ride comfort is also exceptional for the most part. It’s a pity owners in India will seldom use their Bentley Continental GT for cross-country travels.
