The Bentayga is Bentley’s first-ever SUV. It’s big in size, big on power, big on luxury and, of course, big on price too. The Bentley Bentayga engine options include a 550hp V8 petrol, a mighty 608hp W12 petrol and even a, wait for it, 435hp (and 900Nm) V8 diesel.

The Bentley Bentayga has immense presence but the jury is still out on its look. Love it or loathe it, you won’t confuse a Bentayga for anything else. On the inside, the winged dash links the cabin to other Bentleys and quality is fantastic, save for a few less-than-special buttons. Buyers can have their Bentaygas’ cabins trimmed in the materials and colours of their choice, and there’s a long list of feature upgrades on offer too. We’d pick the individual rear seating package that offers throne-like comfort at the back. A third row of seats is an option too.
The Bentayga’s range-topping W12 engine is mega but it feels excessive in light of the V8 petrol that offers similar real-world performance. The V8 diesel, on the other hand, impresses for its superb pulling power and refinement, but in this price band, it’s not the engine of choice. Bentley blends luxury and sportiness like few other marques can and in this regard, the Bentayga doesn’t disappoint. Sound insulation is excellent, ride quality is plush and the Bentayga even corners with vigour. And with dedicated off-road modes, this is a Bentley that won’t be out of place in the rough.
