The Hyundai Alcazar is, in essence, a 3-row version of the Creta, but Hyundai has put a lot of work into setting it apart. It has a longer body and wheelbase, bigger wheels, revised styling, more equipment, and a larger 2.0-litre petrol engine. It is available as a 6-seater with captain's chairs for the middle row or a 7-seater with a bench seat. It is available in 14 variants that are a combination of 2 engines (each with manual and auto gearboxes), 2 seating configurations (6 and 7) and three trim levels - Prestige, Platinum and Signature.

The Alcazar is a different take on a mid-size three-row SUV. It is not as large or spacious as rivals, but makes up for that with clever packaging, ease of driving, superb comfort and refinement and a truly astonishing equipment list. Highlights here include the crisp digital dials (with lane-departure cameras), 360-degree cameras, ventilated front seats, a Bose sound system, wireless chargers in the first and second rows, and a slick 10.25-inch touchscreen with connected car tech. The 159hp, 2.0 naturally aspirated petrol feels strong and works especially well with the 6-speed auto. The 115hp, 1.5 diesel (retuned from the Creta) is good enough, but can feel strained when the car is loaded up. Seating for six or seven is possible but involves some shuffling between middle and last rows, and is best for short journeys. It works better as a chauffeur driven vehicle (in captain chair guise), with the second row pushed all the way back, and third row folded for more luggage room. Comfort is superb and it offers the flexibility of a third row when you need it.
