Porsche 718

The Porsche 718s aren’t dramatic in design but have classic mid-engined proportions and somehow just look right. It’s a similar story on the inside. While the 718’s cabin might not appear cutting-edge at first, you’ll like how well thought out it is. All the main controls are in comfortable reach, the buttons are tactile and even the view out is good. There’s a pervasive feeling of quality but you will have to spend big if you want to jazz up your 718 Boxster’s or Cayman’s cabin. Even fully powered seats are paid options.
The Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster are powered by 300hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-charged engines. There’s some turbo lag, followed by a strong and sustained hit of power. However, those familiar with the older Cayman and Boxster will miss the crescendo-like build of power of their flat-six engines. The bassy and rorty note is also a departure from the rasps and snarls of old. What remains intact is the razor-sharp handling. The 718s drive like precision tools and feel like they pivot around the driver. A reasonably good ride and ground clearance also give the Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster genuine everyday usability.
