The Ferrari 296 GTB replaces the F8 Tributo in Ferrari’s line-up as the new mid-engine ‘Berlinetta’ or coupe. It uses a downsized plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, that utilises a 120-degree twin-turbo V6 and two electric motors. However, combined power is a colossal 830hp, while torque stands at 730Nm, allowing the 296 GTB to do 0-100kph in under 3.0sec. And thanks to its 7.45kWh battery, it can do around 25km on electric power alone.

The 296 GTB does not feel like just another mid-engined supercar from Ferrari. It feels special, thanks to its advanced hybrid powertrain that is on par with, and in some cases even better than Ferrari’s twin-turbo V8. The massive performance is easily accessible and the 296 GTB feels like a supercar you can use every day. There’s also that hyper-agility characteristic of a modern Ferrari, that makes it just as thrilling on a winding road as it is on a track. The price is on the steep side, given that this is meant to be a mid-range model, but for the tech and performance it offers, it’s an amount buyers should be more than happy to part with.
